Netflix may have inspired me to write this article. And yes, I’ve only been in winter, but the island stole my heart so thoroughly that I have been planning my spring-summer-fall “self-reflection” tour there. So, Jeju, I’m coming for you.
While the HDI comparison might have sparked a debate, it’s clear that Mindanao is more than just a development statistic. It’s a region of breathtaking beauty, rich culture, and endless adventure. Whether you’re a nature lover, a history buff, or a foodie, Mindanao has something for everyone.
Perhaps this article is my modest attempt to bridge the gap, to remind us that, while it is right to disagree, it is equally essential to find common ground. After all, the Philippines is more than simply an actual spot; it also represents a shared nation and belonging. And if we can't find a way to appreciate and understand one another, how can the rest of the world perceive our best qualities?
This trip was everything I needed to kick off 2025—snowy villages, ski slopes, and a tropical escape all rolled into one. Snow Town was a dream come true, skiing in Seoul was a blast, and Bangkok reminded me why I love turning work trips into adventures. If there’s one thing this trip taught me, it’s that I need to keep chasing these experiences. Winter, summer, work, or play... There’s always more to explore.
