The house appears oddly quiet. It is a silence that has much to say, reminding us of the absence that fills every corner now.

I remember another loss years ago. I couldn’t talk through my tears when one who was dear to me passed on. Now, sorrow feels like an old friend returning with a heavy heart.
I could say, my relationship with my father was not perfect. We were not, all the time, in good terms. We were both little stubborn and proud, so much so that we had long-lasting silences whenever we disagreed. However, beneath it all, he loved me unconditionally which was what our family was built upon.
Not only did he fight cancer but also fought against any obstacles thrown at him by life itself. He exemplified selflessness, working round the clock to ensure we never lacked a thing. When we were younger, he would always say “Study hard, so you can make your own future better.” This wasn’t about settling scores; it was him giving us something he could only dream of for his children’s lives. He would work countless hours, sacrificing his time… being away from us, to provide for the family. But, he never expected anything in return. He found happiness and contentment from seeing our development.
I could write a book about all the nice things he did for us, but this is what matters most: “Thank you Papang. You showed us so many things about life, you made us know how to be strong in adversity and finally showed us the true meaning of love.”

To everyone who joined us in remembering my Dad’s life, Thank you… It was very clear that Papang touched hearts without number and his memory shall live to encourage us all.
I believe my Dad will be out there somewhere watching over us with the quiet strength he always had. His love keeps us moving forward and we will always have his name in our hearts.
We mourn an exceptional man’s death, but we also celebrate a great legacy he has left behind.
