Hey, wanderlusters! So, back with another chapter of my European escapade. This time, we’re hitting up Cologne, Germany for a whirlwind day trip filled with surprises, stunning sights, and, of course, delicious food. Buckle up, because this one’s a rollercoaster!
Let’s be real, who needs sleep when you’ve got a European adventure to catch? We were up before the roosters crowed, bleary-eyed but buzzing with excitement, and making a beeline for Berlin’s central station. But plot twist! One of our pre-booked trains had gone rogue and wasn’t running that day. Queue the frantic ticket swapping and a mad dash to catch the next one with just minutes to spare! Talk about an adrenaline rush before the coffee even kicked in.

After our train fiasco, we finally arrived in Cologne, famished and ready for breakfast. A quick pit stop at our hotel for an early check-in, and we were off to explore the city center on foot. The charming streets of Romerturm were a photographer’s paradise, leading us straight to the jaw-dropping Cologne Cathedral. Seriously, this architectural masterpiece is a sight to behold!

Sunday meant some shops were closed, but that didn’t stop us from indulging in some serious window-shopping on Hohe Strasse, Cologne’s shopping mile. Chanel, Prada, Gucci… someone can dream, right?

Our rumbling stomachs led us to RheinZheit, a riverside haven serving up authentic German delights and frothy beers. Picture this: a table by the Rhine and plates piled high with mouthwatering local cuisine. It was pure bliss!
With our bellies full and happy, we continued our exploration. The Hohenzollern Bridge, with its love-lock tradition and panoramic views, was the perfect spot for some cheesy tourist snaps. Then it was off to Alter Markt, a historic square that transported us back in time.
As the sun set on Cologne, we made our way back to the hotel, tired but absolutely thrilled with our whirlwind adventure. The next day, it’s off to Amsterdam! And I can’t wait to share those stories with you soon.
